Liv & Lov by Dora Szekely designs     StudioDDB Stained Glass Art

Dora Szekely of Liv & Lov creates pieces of wearable art jewelry, designing each piece completely by hand! As a Global Studies major in college focusing on Fair Trade and having worked with FT organizations, Dora makes great efforts to use only recycled silver. She switched to recycled with the dream of one day being a part of creating a Fair Trade Silver, something with transparency for artisans that can’t afford to own a mine.

Dora even had the opportunity to visit mines in southern Africa and learn how it has developed the country and affects the people, further strengthening her resolve. She has also interned and worked as a researcher for the No Dirty Gold campaign and hopes to work on Fair Trade gold in Colombia before going to Peru to research silver mining. The profits she makes from her jewelry not only go back into her art but towards these goals!

The manner in which I create is inspired by people and the earth, the designs are inspired by nature, geometric forms, and connections. The way opposing geometric forms connect and the connections everything living has to each other, unknown, random, and destined.

Be compassionate

Love you, others and the Earth

& You will not only find happiness

But will change the World!

Check out Liv & Lov by Dora Szekely designs and come out to the East Greenwich Art Festival on September 1st and 2nd at the New England Tech campus to see Dora’s beautiful artwork in person!

For Donna, her work in stained glass comes from her fascination with the play of light and shadow – a constant change of the piece of art at different times during the day (and during the four seasons) as the light changes the appearance of the image

Donna is inspired by the beauty of cathedral windows and greatly appreciates the amount of time and hard work that goes into creating such works of art. Donna works mainly in the Tiffany copper
foil technique and believes Tiffany’s works are breathtaking

While Donna has worked in illustration, painting, photography and more, she enjoys the challenges of cutting and soldering glass to create a piece of art. While she is able to produce a traditional stained glass piece, She finds that it’s always more fun to create something with a bit of whimsey

Visit Donna of StudioDDB Stained Glass Art online today and make sure to come out to the East Greenwich Art Festival to see works by Donna, Dora and all of your favorite local artists along with live entertainment, local eats, free kids activities and more!

Andrea Ehret of String ‘N’ Things      Ashley Vick of Filomena Demarco Jewelry

These two wonderful jewelry artists will be out selling their artwork at the East Greenwich Art Festival on September 1st and 2nd at the New England Tech Campus – Don’t miss out!

Andrea Ehret of String ‘N’ Things creates her jewelry using almost all upcycled materials that she has rescued from various antique stores, flea markets and garage sales. These items often include vintage and repurposed materials such as doilies, lace, buttons, keys, games pieces and toys – making her art form truly unique!

“Do what you love and what you enjoy, because you won’t have any fun if you don’t” – Andrea Ehret

Andrea also creates modern wreaths made out of yarn and felt!…

Andrea’s craft making all began about 5 years ago when she couldn’t find that perfect necklace to match her outfit. Out of her dilemma came wonderful jewelry making!
Make sure to check out all of Andrea’s wonderful artwork on her Etsy site today!
Ashley Vick of Filomena Demarco Jewelry  earned her BFA in metals from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Utilizing the techniques of electro-forming, lost wax casting and various methods of fabrication, Ashley creates sculptural jewelry that is inspired by forms and colors found in nature – gathering much of her inspiration from her travels, specifically the southwest.
I remember discovering the transformative power of jewelry as a young girl, piling on my mother’s jewelry with a more-is-better approach, and how beautiful and special it made me feel to wear it. As a child, I had no concept of how much it cost or what it was worth. All I knew was the pleasure of wearing it and how it made me feel. Inevitably, I would get caught and, fearing loss or ruin, be forced to put it back. I think about how much beautiful jewelry went unworn and how it was locked away for safekeeping. The memory of this has shaped my relationship to jewelry.
According to Ashley, jewelry should serve people; people should not be in service to it. It is her hope and intention that the jewelry she makes be worn and enjoyed, that it lend itself to the expression of personal style, that it make a statement, and that whoever wears it will feel beautiful and special too.
Please visit Ashley at Filomeno Demarco Jewelry online today and make sure to come out to the East Greenwich Art Festival on September 1st and 2nd to support Ashley, Andrea and many more wonderful local artists!
And don’t forget to put the Festival Fete Holiday Market on your calendar as well!

New England Art Happenings This Memorial Day Weekend!

26 May

Hey Art Lovers,

Check out what’s going on this Memorial Day Weekend at the deCordova Museum & Sculpture Park:

Gary Webb

This British sculptor is hosting his first ever exhibition in the United States. Known for his use of “myriad materials including steel, aluminum, glass, mirror, plastic, brass, wood, brick, spray paint, fabrics, and assorted found objects.”

“Webb creates enigmatic objects that play games with the tradition of Modernist abstraction while commenting on twenty-first century consumer culture” (deCordova.org).

Read more about Gary Webb today and see how you can plan your visit to the deCordova exhibition!

Jedediah Caesar

Have a passion for sculpture? Check out Los Angeles Native, Jedediah Caesar’s exhibition at the deCordova this Memorial Day Weekend…

Caesar’s works are created from “congealed materials that speak to process, temporality, and location in contemporary art.”

What is truly unique about Caesar’s art work is the fact that he constructs his works from various found objects.

Second Nature: Abstract Photography Then and Now

This exhibition offers a new perspective on abstract photography. Unlike many art forms, this exhibition “challenges our popular view of photography as an objective image of reality by reasserting its constructed nature” (decordova.org).

These are only several of the many fascinating exhibitions happening at the deCordova Museum & Sculpture Park.

Read up on other current exhibitions and plan your trip today!

We are looking forward to seeing you in just a couple short weeks at the Garden City Center Art Festival at the Garden City Center in Cranston, Rhode Island!

And of course, none of Festival Fete’s Art Happenings would be possible without our wonderful sponsors!
