Pop Art with A Fashionable Twist

28 Apr

Joanne DeLomba, Cranston native and single mother of two (very handsome) teenage boys, has operated her pottery studio for about thirty years. Her ceramic lines have been sold internationally and carried by Target, Nordstrom’s, Boston Museum of Fine Art as well as many fine craft galleries. However, after surviving stage four colon cancer (!!!), Joanne decided to take her artwork in a different direction

Joanne began her handmade jewelry collection last year and has had great luck with her construction of funky, unique, hip wearable art. While she loves working in ceramics, her jewelry making provides her with an alternative creative outlet (not to mention, it requires a lot less mess than clay!)

The inspiration for Joanne’s jewelry line derives from a mix of romance comic book art of the sixties and seventies, advertising art, POP art, Modern Art and Anime, making her creations “simultaneously hip as well as nostalgic”.

More recently, Joanne has  also been making earrings and necklaces with recycled Vintage Soda Pop bottle caps circa 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, which go so great with the Pop Art images!
